Psalms and Creative Writing: God Speaks
Cover the earth with snow;
Pelt the earth with hail;
Freeze the earth with frost.
God speaks again:
Bring forth the warm wind;
Melt the ice;
Let the rivers flow.
God freezes us . . . and melts us. God pelts us and protects us. God determines the flow of our lives, orchestrating the ups and downs, the losses and gains, and the fearful nights and joyous days. God reigns supreme.
Who is God?
Who is this God who forces us to face the opposites ingrained in His design of the universe? Who is this God who drains us dry, then injects us with purpose, with passion . . . with soul? He is our God who reigns in paradox, in mystery—hidden like a brilliant sun.
Psalm 147 ends with the exhortation, “Praise the Lord!” We praise Him in our joy, in our bounty—in our pain. We were born to praise the Lord with praise embedded in our DNA. Shout to the sky; sing to the birds, praises to our Lord.
