Psalms and Creative Writing: Gracegolden nectar flows
from your tongue

your words feed
my soul

your grace—
more precious
than life
–Terry Chitwood

I began composing this poem by writing the last verse first. The last verse is a line from Psalm 63. This line radiates ripples of light in every direction. Having grace be more precious than life shows that having a divine connection with God through grace is more important than living a longer life without this connection. The line shocks you, giving you a proper perspective toward life.

Divine Help

Grace, a shimmering mist, cloaks you with God’s protection, guiding you though the perilous waters of life. Without divine assistance you could perish, never fulfilling your calling . . . your purpose. Your destiny is engraved into the fabric of life. Grace helps you discern your destiny, allowing you to live it fully.

Piercing the Night

Grace showers you with drops of light, letting you see in the dark. When storm clouds descend, attempting to trap you in their midst, grace lights the path through the storm. Grace chants:
I am the sun at night.
I am the firelight.
I am the eagle’s sight.
