Psalms and Creative Writing: Poetic Praise

When Christ is born within you and dwells in your heart, you see with new eyes and hear with new ears. “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord” (Colossians 3:16. KJV).

Psalms

Speaking of psalms, the following poem of mine ends with a line from Psalm 42:

Throat parched,
lying in the sand,
I thirst for the living God.

Living Water

Life is a dessert without a connection to the living God. The birth of Christ within you provides a continuous connection to the living water. Like a deer, I drink from you always. Singing your praise, I melt.

Poetic Praise

Creative interpretation of the lines from a Psalm enhances your writing, interspersing poetic praise within a variety of spiritual topics, inserting God into your writing, making the most mundane prose take wing. I fly beyond the sky with your love (Psalm 57).
